I wanted to pull some smaller logs out just to give an overview of the skidding winch. I never really found a good video on YouTube that demonstrated this.

Hey folks! I’m out here skidding logs out with the Hud-Son Forest Equipment Uniforest 45M forestry winch.

This is my first time really pulling logs. If you look back here you’ve got two cables.

One is the release which releases your winch and the other cable is the power that pulls the winch.

Do what you want to do first of all is pull this red wing and that releases your winch.

You’ll take your chains here and wrap them around the logs.

Then take your winch out, hook it up, and you’re good to go!

So that’s what we are going to do right now and I’ll put you guys on my chest here. Hopefully, you don’t wobble around too much.

This was one long but I cut it up so I can pull it out of here fairly easily. I don’t have any trouble.

We’re gonna put this in here. It just goes, you can see that. Right through there’s a little slide. Take here into your winch. Hopefully you guys can see this and it just slides right through.

Get your other chain over here. I’m going to put it around the other log. Let’s do it!!!

Make sure it sinks down that log. You bring your cable over and you guys can see here.

Hud-Son Forest Equipment Uniforest 45M skidding winch gives you a little place to hold your chainsaw. Isn’t that special!

Start our tractor up. We’re going to use the back wheel switch for the PTO. There it goes.

Now we can take these off. We bring out cable all the way up. Now we can take these and slide them down through here. Okay, like that.

Okay, we’re gonna raise up and let’s lift these log ends up. We can drag them out of here. Let’s do that. You guys up here as you can see a little bit.

So put your chains back in and you’re done. Easy as that and simple as that.

So a log like these three would probably take me, I don’t know, several hours to pull out of the woods.

You know, you can only cut maybe a third of that. Maybe half and fit in the back of my trailer.

So, you got one, two, three, four, five, or six, trips out of the woods.

I still haven’t taken them back to the house yet. They’re up here where I can get to them. I can cut them up into smaller pieces. You know like six or seven foot pieces using a ruffle bucket and carry them back to the house which is probably what I’ll do tomorrow.

So that’s just a real quick overview of the Hud-Son Forest Equipment Uniforest 45M forestry winch.

It’s working pretty well for me. I enjoy it so looking forward to pulling some bigger logs out as I get used to it. Not used to it yet. It’s again my first day using it. I just wanted to go over the basics again. That black cord is your power, the red cord it releases the winch and pull it out easily.

You can take this and move it up here. I’ll hit down here because it gives you more leverage to pull heavier logs.
